Who Sings On What Songs
by founding Rip Chords member Ernie Bringas:

... it must be noted that all four Rip Chords recording singers (Ernie Bringas, Phil Stewart, Terry Melcher, and Bruce Johnson) were deeply involved with various contributions on virtually all recordings -- COBRA and THE QUEEN being the notable exceptions.

  • Stewart’s baritone/bass parts can hardly be missed throughout.
  • As for falsetto, Bringas is everywhere and so is Johnston.
  • The Bringas falsetto appears alone on HERE I STAND, DRAG CITY, TROPHY MACHINE, LITTLE DEUCE COUP, SHUT DOWN, and, MY BIG GUN BOARD.
  • Johnston’s falsetto appears alone on HEY LITTLE COBRA, THE QUEEN, SURFIN CRAZE, THIS LITTLE WOODIE, and, HOT ROD USA.
  • But sometimes their falsetto voices were combined, as in THREE WINDOW COUP, SUMMER USA, SURF CITY, and certain parts of BEACH GIRL.
